The follow up to any successful first volume can be tough for any franchise, but the Firefly 2 vaporizer does it with aplomb. This new dynamic herb and concentrate vaporizer uses convection heating and is perfectly suited for beginners and veteran vapers alike. While the first Firefly vaporizer was super easy to take care of this one has got the least amount of upkeep necessary. So, if you’re new to the game there’ll be very few problems and if you’re used to spending large amounts of time taking of your vaporizer, you’ll be relieved to know that’s no longer an issue.
The Firefly 2 vaporizer takes all the lessons learned from the design of the original and improves them tenfold. With better battery life, smaller size and weighing far less the vaporizer makes a powerful case to anyone looking for a new vaporizer.
What’s great about the Firefly 2 is that it’s smaller than the original and half the weight. That makes it comparable to the Crafty and Air vaporizers. This is in part to their switching of materials, originally they were using a stainless-steel body but have now opted for a magnesium alloy. While it’s still not as discreet as other vaporizers on the market it’s still pretty small.
Plus, it has a super quick heat up time meaning there’s no waiting around in public holding onto a slow-heating vaporizer. That’d be disastrous. It's heating option also means you can just take a little bit at a time and save the rest for later.
In true signature of a quality vaporizer the vapor path is made entirely from borosilicate glass. Because of that you’ll get no horrible tasting build ups of residue.
Battery Life and Heating
It’s undeniable that battery life on the original Firefly was certainly one of its biggest drawbacks. The first incarnation of the Firefly’s battery was not only quite short but also seemed to degrade far quicker than average over time. The new Firefly 2 however combats this issue of battery efficiency for the most part. The 7.4 V lithium ion battery can last for several sessions before giving up. Plus, it only takes 40 minutes to get back to fully charged. Not bad at all.
There are five preset temperatures for dry herbs and one for the concentrates. This gives plenty of scope for all levels of vapers out there. Be warned though that using dry herb with the concentration heat setting can cause combustion. No one wants that.
It can also be used in conjunction with a fantastic iPhone/Android Firefly app that connects via Bluetooth. Using the app allows you to change temperatures remotely, check battery life, and configure new settings on the unit.
Unlike most of the herb and concentrate vaporizer scene the Firefly 2 is actually incredibly easy to clean. In fact, the vape can go a long time between cleans with no worries about residue build up or performance loss. There is no screen in to bowl for you to have worry about replacing either. All you have to do is get a cotton bud or paper towel, get some isopropyl alcohol on there, and wipe away any mess.
This is definitely one of the best vaporizers you could get yourself from the market today. It produces great tasting, cool vapor every time and is easy to use. If you want a vaporizer that can handle concentrates and dry herbs equally well then this is the vaporizer for you. The problem we now face is that this vaporizer has been discontinued, so you may have to hunt around to find one but you should snap one up if you have the chance!
