Not too long ago, I became aware that Davinci (the makers of several popular marijuana vaporizers) is planning on releasing a new portable vaporizer called the Davinci Ascent. Davinci claims that the Ascent will be the first glass-on-glass portable vaporizer and will have a 4 hour battery life.
From the information I’ve managed to gather about the Ascent, I think that it may shape up to be a great vaporizer, and I look forward to trying it out once its released. I really like the design as it seems to be well thought out; portable yet classy. Most portable vaporizers I’ve seen aren’t too pretty looking (besides the Pax), whereas the Ascent looks like a cellphone, allowing it to be discreet. Davinci also claims that the Ascent will be able to vaporize loose leaf as well as essential oils, so that’s also a plus. The unit will also have an LED screen to display operating information while in use.
My only concern with the Ascent is how durable the glass-on-glass (GoG) connections will be. Since GoG can be fragile (and portable vaporizers usually get moved around a lot), I hope that Davinci has been able to design some kind of protective housing so I have peace of mind in case of minor bumps.
Expect the Ascent to be released sometime in Spring 2013, most likely in March. No word on how much it’ll cost yet, but hopefully it will be released at an affordable price point. The Ascent will be available in a selection of colors including black, red, and black with a leather pattern.
