Ascent Water tool adapter
Ascent Water tool adapter

As some of you may know, I’m a big fan of attaching bongs to vaporizers in order to get the smoothest possible vapor. This works great for plug-in vaporizers, but because of their mouthpiece designs, it is often hard to connect a waterpipe to portable vaporizers. Fortunately for owners of the DaVinci Ascent portable vaporizer, DaVinci makes an adapter allowing you to connect your bong to the Ascent. The tool is available here from here on the DaVinci store and is designed to be used with either 14mm or 18mm bongs (so make sure you order the correct adapter for your waterpipe). For the purposes of this review, I will be using the 18mm variety.

After unboxing the adapter, I took at look at its construction. Made out of borosilicate glass, the adapter is durable and able to withstand the rapid temperature fluctuations produced by the Ascent (although I wouldn’t recommend dropping it from any height since it may risk cracking). It is also easy to clean by soaking it in high proof alcohol and then rinsing it with water (I suggest using this method).

Next, I removed my original Ascent mouthpiece and inserted the water tool. It fit snugly just like the original piece. In order to connect your Ascent to a waterpipe you need to hold it upside down in place. Make sure to be careful that you don’t shift the unit side to side too much, as this may risk cracking one of the glass pieces. After packing a bowl filled with fresh green herb, I was able to get a solid number of large vapor clouds which I found to be much smoother than taking a regular puff on the Ascent. Of course, using a bong attachment makes the Ascent much less portable, so plan on using the tool when you’re at home or at a friends place with access to a waterpipe.

Although holding the Ascent upside down is not as ideal as having a dedicated plug-in vaporizer bong setup (which you can leave sitting upright), the tool still does a great job cooling down the vapor coming from the Ascent. Overall, the Ascent water tool adapter is a fairly durable piece of glass which can really help cool down the vapor produced by the Ascent. If you have an Ascent and bong, I highly suggest picking up a water tool for use at home!
